Frequently Asked Questions

1 What is the minimum salary for an EP in 2026?

For most industries, the minimum salary is S$5,600. For the Financial Services sector, it is S$6,200. If the applicant is older or more experienced, the required salary will be higher.

2 What is the COMPASS points system?

COMPASS is a scoring system used by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). It looks at your salary, qualifications, and the company’s diversity. You must score at least 40 points to pass. SBC will check your score before we apply.

3 Do I need to verify my degree?

Yes. MOM requires all EP applicants to provide a Verification Report for their highest qualification. This proves your degree is real. We will help you get this report from the approved agencies.

4 How long does the application take?

After we post the required job advertisement for 14 days, the MOM application usually takes about 3 weeks. Some complex cases may take longer.

5 Can I bring my family to Singapore?

Yes. If your monthly salary is S$6,000 or more, you can apply for a Dependant’s Pass (DP) for your legal spouse and children (under 21 years old).

6 What if my application is rejected?

If rejected, MOM will provide a reason. SBC will analyze the problem and help you file an Appeal with more supporting documents to improve your chances.

7 Can I apply for an EP if I just started my Singapore company?

Yes, you can. However, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will check if your company has enough capital to pay salaries and if you have a real business plan. SBC helps new companies prepare the right documents to show business viability.

8 How much does the whole process cost?

Government fees include an S$105 application fee and an S$225 pass issuance fee. SBC’s service fee covers the eligibility check, job advertising, document verification support, and the full application management.

9 What happens if I want to change jobs later?

Your EP is tied to your current employer. If you change jobs, your new employer must submit a completely new application for you. We recommend not cancelling your current pass until the new one is approved.

10 Can I be a Director of another company while holding an EP?

Generally, an EP holder can only work for one employer. To be a director of a different company (e.g., a subsidiary), you must get a Letter of Consent (LOC) from MOM.

11 How long is the EP valid for?

First-time applications are usually approved for up to 2 years. Renewals can be granted for up to 3 years. Highly skilled tech professionals may be eligible for a 5-year pass under specific conditions.
